The Anatomy of Sainthood

In 1992, Jack Crabtree read a paper entitled “The Anatomy of Sainthood.” Earle Craig wrote a response to it at the time. In Jack’s paper he explored the questions, “who will be saved?” and “what are the necessary conditions of salvation?” His paper involved an import paradigm shift in his understanding of the gospel and of the nature of sanctification. We are offering a reformatted reprint of that original paper and of Earle Craig’s accompanying response here. Because so many contemporary Christians remain on the other side of the paradigm shift that this paper represents, it will likely be as provocative today as it was in 1992. Neither Jack’s paper nor Earle’s response represent exactly what they believe today. Nevertheless, the primary insight contained in this paper remains foundational to both of their perspectives today.
